Lat Krabang is one of the 50 khet (districts) of Bangkok, located in the south-east.
It is the second largest district with an area of almost 124,000 km2.
In 2017, it has a population of almost 174,000.
The surrounding districts are, clockwise from the south:
* Bang Bo, Bang Sao Thong en Bang Phli (province Samut Prakan);
* Prawet, Saphan Sung, Min Buri en Nong Chok (Bangkok)
* Mueang Chachoengsao (province Chachoengsao).
A large part of the district is agricultural land where rice is still grown today. The other part, about a third, is industrial and residential.
Suvarnabhumi Airport, in nearby Bang Phli, is causing a lot of development along the nearby main roads. Think of hotels, restaurants, shopping malls. The airport also causes a lot of traffic.
Pia was born and raised in Lat Krabang, along Thanon On-nut, as were her sisters and brothers.
A large part of her family still lives in Lat Krabang, as do many other less close relatives.
We have been coming here for over 40 years and have seen developments from a narrow road
between rice fields with almost no buildings to a busy six-lane road with lots of traffic,
numerous hotels and shopping malls.
But if you go a little bit away from that, you will soon come across agricultural land
again, mainly rice fields.
Or fallow land, which we think is being used as a speculative object.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment,
there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood,
the weather and many other factors.
